They’re beautiful and relatively affordable. But they don’t have to be disposable. It’s quite easy to care for glass bead jewellery.

All you have to do is protect those qualities that make them so beautiful: keep them smooth and shiny, keep their beads intact, keep their colours bright and sparkly, and finally, keep grime at bay.

PRESERVE ITS SMOOTH, SPOTLESS SHINE!

For all glass beads, whether tiny seed beads, or big, chunky nuggets, shine is everything. To preserve the shine of your glass bead jewellery, avoid contact with rough, abrasive surfaces (even mildly abrasive ones.)

When exposed to friction with such surfaces, the glass beads can develop tiny scratches. Individually, these scratches are nothing. However, many tiny scratches will dull the shine of your jewellery significantly. I recommend wrapping or laying your glass bead jewellery on soft, dry fabric.

KEEP YOUR BEADS INTACT!!

Most glass beads can handle a lot of pressure without breaking. However, those pressures can reduce their aesthetic appeal. Nothing alters the look and neatness of glass beads like cracking and chipping!!

Cracks and chipped ends will appear around the edges of glass beads that are handled roughly. To avoid this, wear and handle your glass bead jewellery gently.

PROTECT ITS BRIGHT, VIBRANT COLOURS!!

Discolouration can occur with some glass beads. It could be the result of aging or of excessive exposure to things like sunlight, heat, and chemicals. They can affect the colour agent in your glass beads, giving them a faded, old look or adding a tinge of another colour.

Obviously, exposure can’t be avoided when you’re wearing your beads. When they’re not in use however, do your best to store them away from harsh conditions.

KEEP ITS SURFACE CLEAN!

No piece of jewellery looks good when layers of dirt, sweat, and chemicals are left to accumulate over time. Your glass bead jewellery will look dingy and unbefitting if not cleaned regularly & when needed.

A soft cloth dampened in mild soapy water will do fine. Wipe down the surface of your multistrand necklaces and drop earrings gently. Once cleaned and rinsed similarly, let your jewellery air-dry before it is stored.
